The Stokley Trial, Verdict & Aftermath

Interesting convo among movement folks started by Wanda Merrill… the divisions are very real, the civil war within Dr Anderson speaks of that was brought to the forefront by the murder of Darren Seals.

As St. Louis anxiously awaits the Stockley verdict and threats of massive protests loom, Im really concerned about what we’re seeing happening rightnow.

The same groups of individuals who collected thousands of dollars on the promise of helping the people of Ferguson and protesters/activists (who btw really needed the help during the time) but who subsequently were unable to benefit from the monies designated to help them. That really hurt alot of dedicated people, not being able to access funds raised on their behalf.. Especially those who suffered loss of jobs, damaged businesses, homes lost, and who suffered other financial set-backs as a result of their participation. Etc.etc.

It’s painful to watch those individuals who only showed up when cameras came out, those who ‘pretended’ to be in the thick of things with us but yet, they showed up, took photos and ran away quickly. Some got on camera saying ‘Im here to support the youth’ but upon close observation, wouldnt even speak to or hold a conversation with the youth who were standing right next to them They lied.. And they lined their pockets with money donated by naive people who just wanted to be a part of things, jet set across the globe and rode the ferguson train until its last stop. Then we have the African American led- organizations that sold us out and the Black clergy members who abandoned us because they were so afraid of their own community they pretended to be confused and said they didnt know what to do however, they sure knew how to collect money and donati7ons and they waited until it was ‘safe’ before we even saw them. These are the same people postering right now, amid the Stockly verdict, getting in position to jump out front, take the lead and do exactly what they did back in 2014..

The question that keeps circling in my mind is what have we learned since August 2014? The one thing that comes to mind is Ferguson was a grassroots effort, one that was successful in garnering worldwide attention and support but without any identifiable leadership. It worked for us although we made big mistakes. Mistakes that we shouldve learned from and one big lesson is this:

ONLY FOOLS DO THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS. THEY’VE ALREADY SHOWN US WHAT THEY’RE ALL ABOUT. THEMSELVES!! AND THAT MY FRIENDS IS NOT GONNA CHANGE. Now, I don’t know about you but I will not be used again.

Movement family, be smart. We cant get played if we dont participate in the game..Their meetings should be empty, Their press conferences should show them standing alone. When the gofundme accounts go up, we work hard to get them taken down. If they try to lead.. Make it hard by not following….
